The third attribute that lends to one’s success is effort.
Effort can be approached in a dual fashion, the physical and mental. Attitude is critical when it comes down to this, do I or do I not train when I’m not in the mood? It’s quite easy to not perform any sort of physical activity so do I make the effort to get off my rump? For those that know, you always feel better in the end. Or even 7 minutes into your routine, whether it’s cardio, going for a run or working out.
The physical component of effort boils down to how intense you’re training. Are you going through the motions? Doing the same thing you’ve done forever? Spending too much time enjoying the scenery or dilly-dallying in between sets? Structuring your routine with progressive systems and checks to ensure your adapting is a fantastic way to optimize one’s efforts.
Next week: Review of success attributes and introduction of secondary traits

Give me a “C”! Because the second attribute revolves around consistency.
100% Ideal
In the ideal world we would all like to be 100% consistent. Is that realistic? Perhaps. What is, is the persistent action towards accomplishing the 100% ideal. Consistency is required from a successful point of view in regards to training because your body requires constant stimulus to learn, maintain and adapt. On a neurological level, a lot of what is done in the active world revolves around motor control programs and refining these. Aside from the technical aspects, if your volume target is 3 times a week and you’re hitting 2, you’re still having an impact in faciliting your goals. A 70% completion rate is fantastic. Science shows this, as does experience.
Is something better than nothing?
This may lead to the query: is anything, even one time a week better than nothing? The answer is a resounding yes. Take this perspective: You’ve had a long stress-filled day. You go to the gym, hit a spinning class or meditate for a bit. After the session your energy is transmuted positively, you’re feeling refreshed and relaxed. Is that worth it? Although in the long term scheme of things, if you’re goal is to sculpt or lose weight, one time a week will prolong your timeline to achievement, the immediate effect is considerable and you still have momentum.
Now
Hit the floor and give me 20!
Next week: the third attribute in success.

Ben Hei Hei said:
Effort is its own reward.
We are here to do
And through doing to learn;
And through learning to know;
And through knowing to experience wonder;
And through wonder to attain wisdom;
And through wisdom to find simplicity;
And through simplicity to fine attention;
And through attention
To see what needs to be done…
