Ok this is a stretch on the turning water into whine (this is a wordplay not a typo) but sugar causes a lot of non-productive effects on your body (hence the cause of whining).

– Depresses your immune system

– Depletes magnesium, chromium, potassium, B vitamins and calcium to name a few

– Rots your teeth

– Increase your chance of Heart disease

Helps cancer thrive

– Retains water

Acidifies your blood

– Send you off on a sugar coma and seriously clog your brain’s functionality (See above graphic or click )

And there’s more in the degenerative disease category.

Represents the normal amount of glucose that should be circulating at any given time in this 5 litres.

What’s that look like?

Have you ever heard that tale that ketchup has more sugar in it than ice cream?

It’s true.

_______________Serving size      Sugar content      # of Teaspoons

Ben & Jerry’s               125ml                     28g                              7

Heinz Ketchup            15ml                        4                                   1

Heinz Adjusted to Ben & Jerry’s Equivalent   =   33g of sugar (8 plus teaspoons)

Hopefully you’re not eating a 500 ml bottle of Ketchup per meal,  that would be gross.

Recently the WHO (World Health Organization) made a big headline splash with their proposal that they want to reduce their sugar intake guidelines from the current one.

Their current one:  10% of daily consumed consumed calories.

The new one:  Less than there current one (yep that helps). Meaning they are in the process of determining what that reduction will entail.

Presently there aren’t any set guidelines established by governing bodies (Health Canada or FDA for example),  just recommendations the last time I checked.  So WHO is also hoping to influence these organizations to follow suit.
